Pom Pom Parade

If I owned acres of land I wouldn't have a herbaceous border or a red, white, yellow, pink or blue border. On either side of my perfectly manicured, emerald green promenade I would have a pom pom border.  I would fashion garlands of jewel-coloured pom poms from the softest angora yarn to hang from the boughs of my strawberry trees. I would head off on life threatening journeys to inhospitable lands in search of undiscovered gems for my collection. If I had to spend a viciously cold winter alone, sheltering under a tent made from my crinoline, in order to collect the rarest specimens in spring, I would do it.

  1. Such lovely pom poms - for a moment there I thought this was your garden and was immediately envious then I saw the label at the bottom - Wisley obviously has plenty to look at - unlike my garden which is going over rapidly. Good luck with your crinoline tent!

  2. I took 600 photos Elaine so have plenty to blog about! I am way behind with blogging about my own modest (tiny) garden and allotment, as well as more from my trip to Italy. My Wisley visit was wonderful and put me in a dreamy mood :)

  3. Aha, the pom poms at last! Thought this was going to be your pompom parade but it's even better! My most delightful "flowers" this year have been the allium pom poms sprouted from one of last year's onions - the bees have loved it too!
PS I must make time to go to Wisley, it looks great!

  4. I love onion pom poms! There are lots of them dotted around the allotment and they look fantastic. They would definitely have pride of place in my pom pom border. I will be posting more Wisley photos so you can enjoy it here until you go.

  5. Beautiful pompom photos. The top photo brings back memories. I think this would have been in a covered area as we grew this at the time rare and unamed plant for many years in our conservatory until it got so enormous we had to make room for us.

  6. Hello Lorna! I enjoyed your dreaming and the pom poms. The Echinops image is glorious! I hope there is plenty of harvesting going on now down at the plot.

  7. Big round blossoms really fill up space with vibrant colour! My favourite of the flowers you've posted have got to be the second one down - are they primulas? They're so feminine and give you colour at different levels.

  8. Hi Tanya. This one of my favourite areas, simple but looked so lovely. Primula Japonica possibly? I love the multiple flower heads on the stems.

Hi Bertie. I've made 14 pots of jam. My husband made another 4 and we have quite a few bags of blackberries in the freezer.
